|
Vista Southwest Hotels, Inc. will break ground on a Microtel Inn & Suites property in Miami today at noon. The hotel -- scheduled to open in January 2005 -- is located on Interstate 44 off exit 313, 75 miles north of Tulsa Airport. Coverage is invited. Attending the ground break will be C. Alan McQuigg, president and CEO of Vista Southwest Hotels, who is a Miami native and dentist; Brent Brassfield, Mayor of Miami, and local officials. "The Miami market has a need for a new hotel product that offers affordable family rates," said McQuigg. "As we studied the hotel market, the most helpful and best fit for our community was Microtel." Said Jon Leven, vice president of marketing for Microtel, "We are thrilled about Microtel's continued growth throughout Oklahoma. The brand provides value and quality, and is the traveler's alternative to higher priced, full-service properties." The two-story, 46-room Microtel Inn & Suites hotel in Miami will offer single, double and suite accommodations, all with queen beds. Amenities will include free local and free long distance phone calls anywhere within the continental US, free high speed Internet access in all guestrooms, expanded cable television with CNN, HBO, ESPN, complimentary continental daily breakfast, a business center, swimming pool and fitness center. All guests will also enjoy advance online check-in and check-out. This includes access to Microtel online billing data, which enables guests to pre-register online, head straight to their guestrooms when they arrive, and avoid the check-out process entirely. "With the complimentary local and long distance phone calls, and wireless high speed Internet access, we expect to raise the bar on the scope of amenities that hotels in the economy-budget segment can offer guests," added McQuigg. There are currently 13 Microtels open in Oklahoma and two under construction in Davis and Thackerville, Okla. Microtel Inns & Suites are all newly constructed, interior corridor, budget-economy hotels and one of the fastest growing hotel brands in the U.S. For the second consecutive year, the brand was ranked highest in guest satisfaction among economy-budget hotel chains in J.D. Power and Associates' North America Hotel Guest Satisfaction Study. As of March 31, 2004, there were 269 Microtels open or under construction. In November 2000, business interests of the Pritzker family of Chicago, Ill., which also own other hospitality businesses and assets, including Hyatt Hotels and numerous manufacturing, health-care, natural resources, businesses and assets, recognized USFS' potential and acquired the company. All Microtel hotels are independently owned and operated. Source:usfsi.com |
