OKLAHOMA CITY, Nov. 9, 2004 - The Board of Governors recently appointed Robert A. Funk, founder and CEO of Express Personnel Services, to the position of chairman of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City. The Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City and its branches in Denver, Co., Oklahoma City and Omaha, Neb. serve the Tenth Federal Reserve District. The district includes Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Wyoming, northern New Mexico and the western third of Missouri. "I am honored to have the opportunity to serve in this capacity," said Funk. "I have pledged to avail myself to the communities we represent and make sure that every voice in business is heard." Funk will share this anecdotal information with Alan Greenspan, chairman of the US Federal Reserve Board. "This is a great opportunity to not only provide timely input from the business community, but also to leverage Express' market strength by sharing real-time employment trends with key decision makers. We will not only be able to provide a solid snapshot, but also look around the corner and see what the future holds." Previously, Funk served as a director of the Oklahoma City branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City from 2000-2002 and deputy chairman from 2003-2004. He also serves on the boards of directors for the International Franchise Association, the North American Limousin Foundation, Sales and Marketing Executives International, the International Franchise Association Educational Foundation and the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum. He is on the board of trustees at Oklahoma Baptist University and Oklahoma Christian University, and is president of the Oklahoma Youth Expo Foundation. Funk is an inductee of both SMEI's International Hall of Fame and the National Association of Personnel Services (NAPS) Hall of Fame. He was named Entrepreneur of the Year by the International Franchise Association in 1999. With nearly 500 offices, Oklahoma City-based Express Services' client base extends through four countries and employs more than 250,000 people annually. Company sales totaled $1 billion in 2003. Today, Express operates three service lines, including Express Personnel Services, temporary staffing/evaluation and direct hire; Express Professional Staffing, contract and executive recruiting and placement; and Express Business Solutions, customized workplace services.
