Buckingham holds a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy with distinction from Purdue University (Class of 1976) and a Master's in Business Administration from Harvard Business School. He is the co-creator with the University of California, Irvine of their new Spa and Hospitality Certificate Program and serves on the UCI faculty. Prior to joining Solana MedSpas, Buckingham was chancellor and president of a major for profit university in Southern California headquartered in Long Beach. Buckingham is also a founding board member of the International Medical Spa Association, serving as their vice president of corporate affairs.

 Since 2002, the Purdue School of Pharmacy has offered “The Dean’s Pharmacy Executive Forum,” an elective course that broadly features leaders in the pharmacy profession. The class provides an opportunity for the exchange of ideas; students benefit from the varied experiences of the guest lecturers and the lecturers enjoy the lively dynamic of questions and answers by well-informed students. Past speakers include Dr. Michael W. Skehan, president and chairman of the board of Arnett HealthSystem; Dr. Daria Schooler, CEO, Comprehensive Spine and Neurosurgery Services, P.C., Columbus, IN; and Nikki M.
