Fastsigns Sign And Graphic Center First In Network To Add Flatbed Inkjet Printer
|
ASHEVILLE, NC,― The FASTSIGNS® sign and graphics center in Asheville, owned by John Mark and Cindy Stroud, is the first of more than 450 FASTSIGNS® centers worldwide to add a flatbed digital inkjet printer. The MacDermid ColorSpan DisplayMaker® printer produces high-resolution signs and graphics up to 72 inches wide directly onto inexpensive uncoated materials, eliminating the need to laminate or mount the sign or graphic, said Stroud. "Whatever flat material our customers want their sign and graphic projects printed on, we can now print directly to that material with this printer," he said. "Up until now, we've had to print, laminate and mount our customers' full color signs and graphics. We expect that this printer will be revolutionary to our business, and will change the overall the sign and graphics industry." The ColorSpan printer uses UV-curable inks that produce vibrant colors and high-resolution images, said Stroud, who, with his wife, has owned the center at 1202 B Patton Ave. since November 1995. UV inks can withstand harsh outdoor use for up to two to three years. The flatbed printer also avoids some of the concerns surrounding the use of solvent printers, Stroud added. "John Mark and Cindy are leaders in the adoption of new technologies and sign-making equipment, and have been as long as they've been owners," said Gary Salomon, president and co-founder of FASTSIGNS International, the worldwide franchisor of FASTSIGNS® sign and graphics centers. "Their aggressive adoption of leading-edge technologies is especially notable because they are in a relatively small market." In 2004, the Strouds received the franchisor's technology award for their adoption of new sign making technology. In addition to the new flatbed printer, the Asheville FASTSIGNS® center has a fully wired network of sign and graphic computers, laminators and a router, as well as several wide format inkjet and solvent printers. "The use of technology is key to our ability to quickly produce high-quality signs and graphics for our customers," said Stroud. "Technology really is the underpinning of this whole business."
