Niche Financing: Keys to Global Broker Success

By securing lenders before finding clients, and by purposely keeping class size small, Global Broker Systems trains financial brokers to fund clients quickly and effectively. Most brokers out there get transactions first, then look for a lender. We do exactly the opposite," says Phil Dushey, founder and President of Global Broker Systems. "We study our lenders, know exactly what they'll approve, and then we find clients." Dushey heads three companies under the Global Financial Services umbrella: Global Leasing, in existence for more than 25 years; Global Church Financing, the single largest financier for church equipment in the United States, operating for the past 12 years; and the newest member of the family, Global Broker Systems, the training offshoot founded two years ago. "We train others how to be financial brokers," Dushey explains. "We can teach somebody to be in the business because we're in the business. We clone what we do for people to start their own business. Sometimes we're asked, ‘Why do you create competitors for yourself?' The answer is that we don't, because this isn't a competitive industry - there's so much business out there it's mind-boggling." Many who go through Global Broker Systems' training program don't have a financial background. Global teaches students everything they need to know to become well-rounded financial brokers, explaining financial products, sales and marketing, business operations, how to locate clients, and industry terminology in depth. Here's a prime advantage the company offers: Everyone who completes the program is approved to work directly with the same lenders Global does business with. Another attractive benefit is the professional, interactive Web site Global creates for every program graduate. Support is ongoing, "for as long as they need it," says Dushey. "They can call us whenever they have a question on any transaction." To date, over 100 people have completed the training program. Classes are offered every month, and class size is limited to five to eight people to maximize one-on-one time. What's more, program graduates can set up their business from home and avoid the extra expense of renting office space. It costs $24,950 to complete the program and receive certification. Each program participant can bring a second person along at no additional charge. In addition, Global recommends budgeting about $1,000 per month for marketing expenses. Past program participants are automatically updated via email whenever Global introduces a new financial product.
