Soto’s love of technology began at a young age -- long before he was licensed to drive a car. Later, in his early 20s, he decided that a career in computers was his calling, so he enrolled in a course of study and earned several computer certifications. In the late 1980s, Soto acquired his first job in the information-technology industry, and only six months later he was wooed by the U.S. Department of Labor to work for them in a critical high-tech capacity. His professional relationship with the Department of Labor continued for the next 13 years, until he transitioned into a similar position with the U.S. Customs Service. Four years later, Soto decided the time was right to go into business for himself. He was already familiar with Geeks On Call®, and when he discovered that a franchise was available in the Hagerstown area of Maryland, he knew he couldn’t let the opportunity slip through his fingers.
