CLEVELAND and CANTON, Ohio, Sept. 8 First-time business owners Dan and Julie O'Donnell are celebrating the grand opening of two of their stores this weekend.  The Southpark Mall location in Strongsville will have its grand opening Friday night from 6:00 to 8:00.  Activities include contests, free samples and giveaways.

The grand opening of the Belden Village Mall location in Canton will be held Saturday from noon to 4:00 pm.  Guests will be eligible to win free ice cream for a year as well as other certificates and samples.

A third location, Great Lakes Mall in Mentor, will have its grand opening next Saturday, Sept. 17 from noon to 4:00 pm. Dan, a Cleveland native, chose to open his first store in his hometown.
"I grew up in Cleveland," Dan said.  "I've been here my whole life. For me it was the best place to begin my business."

Dan's experience in the food service business helped in his decision to open a Dippin' Dots franchise in Ohio. "I have worked in food service for the past 15 years.  I saw Dippin' Dots
at Cedar Point and immediately knew -- this is what I wanted to do."
