The Amato's Xpress concept is modeled on Amato's highly successful Franchise chain of Italian food restaurants across central and southern Maine. The chain traces its roots back for more than a century to a small bakery on Portland's waterfront. Amato's signature item is the Real Maine Italian - a sandwich on fresh baked bread, featuring ham and cheese paired with a much larger portion of fresh vegetables -- tomato, onion, Greek olives, green pepper and Amato's own brand of uniquely sour pickles.

Amato's restaurants have a hard-won reputation for freshness and quality, offering a full menu of quality take-out Italian food, including sandwiches, pizza, salads and pasta.
