The Awards Tell The Story...

Richmond, BC - Boston Pizza International Inc. (BPI) has won three notable awards, and narrowly missed receiving a fourth last evening, for the contributions that the Boston Pizza Foundation has made to community services across the country and for the company's sustained leadership in franchising excellence over the past four decades. 

A list of the recent awards BPI has received include:

  • Caring Company Award, granted by Volunteer Vancouver, recognizing the contribution of volunteer time, expertise and funding that the company and employees have provided to community organizations.
  • Henry Singer Award, granted by the Canadian Institute of Retailing and Services (CIRAS), honouring co-winners, Jim Treliving, Owner and Chairman, and George Melville, Owner and Chairman, for their exceptional leadership in the retailing and services sector.
  • BPI inducted into the Canadian Franchise Association's Hall of Fame for demonstrating ongoing commitment to franchising excellence.

The Boston Pizza Foundation, although nominated, narrowly missed being selected for the Red Cross Power of Humanity Award (corporate category), at last evening's 3rd Annual Power of Humanity Awards Dinner hosted by the Lower Mainland Region of the Canadian Red Cross.  Boston Pizza had been a short listed nominee for the award along with Business Objects (formerly Crystal Decisions) and VanCity Credit Union.

The Boston Pizza Foundation was established in 1990 by Boston Pizza International Inc. to raise funds for people of all ages living in and with difficult circumstances throughout Canada.  To date, the Foundation has raised over $3 million for various organizations including the Heart & Stroke Foundation, Kids Help Phone, Canuck Place, CIBC Wood Gundy Caring for Kids and Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation
