Smart Technology Makes Smart Sense For AmeriCare Alliance Clients & Franchisees

High tech and high-quality care merge to create new homecare solutions as AmeriCare Alliance adopts “smart technology,” offering exciting new options for both clients and franchisees April 9, 2008 – Atlanta, GA – US Franchise News – For seniors who need a little extra help but aren’t ready for a caregiver, AmeriCare Alliance, a leader in the senior care franchise industry, offers the perfect solution: QuietCare, a senior care monitoring service. Partnering with Florida-based TSI Distribution, premier distributor of monitored eldercare products, AmeriCare is implementing this smart technology system to keep families connected when regular face-to-face visits are impractical, at the same time giving its franchisees another service to offer. “Many seniors don’t need or want a caregiver yet,” explains Vicktoria Baylor, AmeriCare’s VP of Franchise Development, “but their families worry about them. They need monitoring. Sensor technology meets that need.” Baylor stresses that complete privacy is maintained since QuietCare does not use cameras or any other type of invasive devices. The wireless sensor technology simply monitors the senior’s daily living pattern and alerts the family when a significant change is noted. Sensors are placed at various points of interest throughout the home, and different protocols can be put into place depending on the preferences of the senior and his or her family. This new offering benefits franchisees as well by expanding their potential market. “It connects us with those in need sooner,” says Baylor, noting that seniors who aren’t ready for a caregiver to stop by are much more receptive to a monitoring system in their homes. “This gives our franchise units the opportunity for an additional revenue stream.” AmeriCare is further embracing smart technology as a beta test site for a new service developed by Intelehealth, provider of wellness monitoring solutions. This new system, called eeBee™, is an interactive service that provides another layer of connectivity. “This technology enables a family caregiver to remotely upload pictures and change them for the senior,” Baylor points out, “making them feel connected to family. It also allows the family caregiver to post messages, such as ‘Do you need groceries today?’ that the senior can give a simple ‘yes or no’ answer to.” Through a secure Internet connection, the family is able to send the senior a digital slideshow of photos, messages, and reminders shown on a computer display. The images and text appear on the screen automatically as they arrive. No computer skills are needed by the senior to view photos and respond to messages. “We are very excited to be able to offer these new services to our franchisees,” says Baylor. “They tie into the values AmeriCare upholds. Our company was created to make sure the end user is happy and secure and is getting quality care. These new offerings allow us to go one step further.” Initial investment requirement for an AmeriCare franchise is $70,000 to $100,000, depending on geographic location. Included in these figures is the $30,000 franchise fee. At only 3%, royalties are the lowest in the senior care franchise industry. Financial help is available in the form of 5-year, 70%, interest-free financing for the area development fee. Best of all for franchisees, this business model offers residual income potential. Additional advantages include minimal monthly overhead, no inventory, and few employees. # # #
