In the last 18 months, four Southern California FASTSIGNS® sign and graphics stores have been sold to new owners and managers after many years of ownership by the original owners, one new center has opened in Santa Clarita and a second new center is scheduled to open in early 2006 in Riverside, said executives with FASTSIGNS International, Inc., a worldwide sign and graphics franchisor. “We’ve been in Southern California since the 1990s, but we’ve found stronger market interest since spring 2004,” said Bill McPherson, the company’s vice president of domestic franchise sales in Canada and the United States. “As the economy continues to expand in the region, more people are looking at franchising as a way to have their own business but with the right level of support.”
FASTSIGNS International, Inc. is exhibiting at The West Coast Franchise Expo Nov. 4-6 at the Los Angeles Convention Center. The company is in booth #711.
Since spring 2004, the Studio City, National City, Temecula and Ventura FASTSIGNS® centers have been sold to new owners. In May 2004, the Studio City location, which opened in 1991, was purchased by Wade and Connie Palmer; Palmer is a former employee of FASTSIGNS International, who relocated from the Dallas, Texas area to buy the center. Palmer said, “I had experience working with FASTSIGNS® owners in the U.S. and the United Kingdom, and I saw their successes. It gave me a framework for my own success.” Dimitri Taylor bought the National City FASTSIGNS® center in June; the center was opened in 1995. Opened in 1991, the Temecula store was purchased by Dennis Blythe in July. In September, Saurabh and Madhu Bajaj bought the Ventura center that opened in 1996.
A few weeks ago, Martin and Maria Murphy opened a new FASTSIGNS® center in Santa Clarita. In explaining their decision, the couple said they wanted to join a company that had a proven system of successful operations. “We found that FASTSIGNS International provides excellent systems and support for its owners,” said Martin Murphy. “We feel that with this support, we have a greater chance of being successful as business owners.”
Other Southern California FASTSIGNS® centers are in Anaheim, Brea, Escondido, Huntington Beach, Moreno Valley, San Clemente, San Diego, Santa Ana, Sherman Oaks, Tarzana, Thousand Oaks and Torrance. The FASTSIGNS International, Inc. sign and graphics franchise includes 408 centers in the U.S. and more than 475 locations worldwide.
“Our franchise owners operate as local, independent businesspeople, but with the support of a franchise system,” said McPherson. “Owners can choose from a variety of marketing programs, field visits and other forms of support so they get the kind of help from us that their individual center needs.”
All new FASTSIGNS® centers open with large-format, full color printers and other new sign-making equipment, which makes each location capable of producing vehicle graphics, trade show graphics, banners, exterior and interior signs, floor graphics and many other kinds of signs and graphics.
”The regional economy shows no signs of stopping, and we expect to have continued success in Southern California, both in our new centers and in resold locations,” said McPherson. “We also have numerous Southern California territories available for new centers." |
