"The Planet Beach Scholarship fund is an unprecedented program that will begin this spring at Planet Beach," explained Kim Dowell, Director of Education & Salon Performance.  "It has been put into place to assist franchisee's children and salon employees who have been with Planet Beach for a minimum of one year and plan to continue education in college or vocational school programs," continued Dowell.

"We created the fund with the idea that access to higher education creates opportunities. We are thrilled to be able to give back to our salons and assist students in reaching their educational goals," furthered Dowell.

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of academic record, demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities, honors, work experience, statement of goals and aspirations, unusual personal or family circumstances, and an outside appraisal.  Financial need is not considered. Scholarships are offered each year for full-time study at an accredited institution of the student's choice.

This program is being administered by Scholarship Management Services, a department of Scholarship America.  Scholarship America is a national nonprofit educational support and student aid service organization that seeks to involve and assist the private sector in expanding educational opportunities and encouraging educational achievement.
