The chicken and biscuits quick service franchise is a regional franchise with operations in the Southeastern United States and Honduras, and now they have branched out into Tianjin, China.  The US is comprised mainly of beef eaters, but in China, their diet is mostly comprised of seafood and chicken.  Their flavor preferences also fit in well with Bojangles' flavor profile.

"We found that China was the perfect franchise opportunities market for our full flavored product," said Tom Lewison, President and COO of Bojangles'.  "So far the restaurant has been well received and is meeting all their projections.  We are really excited to be branching out into a market that is so poised to receive our product."

Some changes had to be made to the Bojangles' recipe in order to get it ready for the Chinese market.  The famous biscuits are made with buttermilk here in the US, but buttermilk is not readily available in China.  The Bojangles' resource and development team worked hard to allay the problem, and came up with an altered recipe that matches the quality of the original recipe.

The leaders of Bojangles Franchise were wary at first of branching out into a place so far from their traditional areas of operation.  However, they quickly found that Tianjin is the perfect place to market their product because of the people's eating habits and because of the size of the area.

Tianjin is the largest port near Beijing, China. The city is located in the northeast corner of China and has a population of more than 10 million people.  Because it is so large, Bojangles' thought a franchise had a greater chance of success, and thus far their prediction is proving correct.
