Quaker Steak & Lube Sponsors Craftsman Truck Race
|
Sharon, PA - Quaker Steak & Lube, the award-winning automotive-themed restaurant chain, is pleased to announce it's sponsorship of the May 20th Quaker Steak & Lube 200 Craftsman Truck Race at the Lowe's Motor Speedway in Charlotte, NC. "This is our second year of race sponsorship, and we hope to continue to have a long lasting relationship between Quaker Steak & Lube and the Speedway," says George Warren, co-founder and CEO of Quaker Steak & Lube. Quaker Steak & Lube began it's tie-in with the Lowe's Motor Speedway when the Concord, NC location opened in May of 2004. Quaker Steak & Lube has 13 locations in six states: PA, OH, FL, TN, WI and NC with seven new units expected to open this year. "It was a natural fit for us, " explains Warren. "We started our first restaurant in an old gas station and have continued to grow with the public's affection for racing, cars and motorcycles by turning each of our restaurants into a type of motor-themed museum. Of course serving great food along with the fun atmosphere is a plus." Dubbed the "Official Chicken Wing of Lowe's Motor Speedway," Quaker Steak & Lube, known for it's 16 varieties of award-winning wings, is also participating in NASCAR Day, which happens to fall on the same day as the Quaker Steak & Lube 200. NASCAR Day raises money for various children's charities by selling pins for $5. One of the charities benefiting from the NASCAR Day pin sales is the Speedway Children's Charity run by Lowe's Motor Speedway. "Each of our restaurants will be selling the pins over the next few weeks. The location that raises the most money will get to send two representatives to present the check to the charity," says Warren. "The NASCAR Day promotion gives us another opportunity to give to the communities were we are located. It also ties in perfectly with our own children's program which features a race car driving chicken named Gizzard Coop, who promotes the values of good sportsmanship and safety." The Quaker Steak & Lube Story In 1974, the original Quaker Steak & Lube opened in a converted gas station in Sharon, PA. Originally founded as an innovative cook-your-own-steak restaurant, the popularity of the Quaker Steak & Lube buffalo-style chicken wings soon took center stage, and by the early 1980's Quaker Steak & Lube was known as the place for award-winning wings and beer in a fun and outrageous automobile and motorcycle-themed atmosphere. Today, "The Lube" serves over 30 million wings annually, has 16 bottled sauces for retail sale, has won the title of "Best Wings USA," and has over 100 local, national, and international awards for their sauce recipes.
